Some points of note:
* The music of Lancashire-born Nigel Ogden, for many years the genial host of BBC Radio’s The Organist Entertains sets off the programme at Hatfield in fine style.
* Henry Smart’s set of Variations in A, played at the opening of the organ at London’s Royal Albert Hall in 1870 is one of the high spots of the Victorian organ repertoire and abounds in colour and diversity of texture and invention.
* Vernon Hoyle, one of Yorkshire’s leading musicians, contributes a cheerful Trumpet Minuet composed as recently as November of last year, 2017.
* Greatly-loved ballet excerpts and solo pieces by Karg-Elert and Boëllmann need no introduction
