Joining us

We're delighted to welcome new singers to join the choir. Please do email [email protected] and we'll get back to you.

We usually suggest that singers come and try some rehearsals with us. You'll be assured of a warm welcome and you can see how you enjoy singing with us.

Auditions

We are an auditioned choir, so after you've been to a few rehearsals, we go through an audition process with you. We want this to be a welcoming and supportive process. (Please note, auditions are with our Music Director Matt; they are not undertaken in front of the whole choir.)

We've updated the audition process for 2023 onwards.

As before, we ask you to prepare a piece of your choice. This can be accompanied or unaccompanied as you choose. Please bring an additional copy of your music if you would like accompaniment.

In addition, there is a common piece we ask everyone to learn. The piece is an arrangement of The Water is Wide for SATB by our Music Director, Matt Beckingham.

By having a common piece which everyone sings, it helps us offer you and other candidates some support, provide rehearsal material, and gives a piece which helps demonstrate your voice within a choral part setting.

The audition material is available below for each voice. You can download a PDF of the music, and to support you in learning the piece, you can watch a YouTube video and listen to a sound file.
